The Blizzard Test

Today I took Coby out for a first-day-of-school treat.  He asked for a Blizzard.  Mmmmmmm how I loooooove Blizzards.  Strawberry Cheesequake with extra stuff.  Ooooooh yeaaaaaah. I thought, "This will definitely test my will power."  Sitting at the drive-thru I expected to feel tempted.  But you know what?  I didn't feel tempted at all.  That surprised me.  I'm think I'm already starting to be less addicted to food and more addicted to the way I feel when I eat healthier.  Please, PLEASE let this last.

  2. Wow, that wasn't just a test, more like a FINAL EXAM!!!! Congrats on passing with flying colors!!! I know you can do it, Leigh - yes, it will last! And, remember: you don't have to be perfect all of the time!

I'm still struggling with the food part - I LOVE to eat. I need to work on the healthy eating aspect. It's not that I don't eat healthy already, but portion control is my real challenge.

I finished my first week of the couch-to-5K program and felt really great today... I did my workout indoors at the gym and ran on a treadmill for the first time. I actually really liked it and felt great afterward (my dog is mad at me again though). I found a good podcast that was made for the couch-to-5K program that has upbeat music and voice cues to tell you when to run, walk, gives encouragement, etc., and I found that really helpful. Following that I did a 40 minute yoga class - great stretching and relaxation. Somehow (miraculously) my knees don't hurt while I'm working out, but after when I sit down and have to get up again - OUCH. I guess I'm not allowed to sit down!

  3. Wow, Abby. You're really DOING IT! Look at you go!! Cool podcast. What a great idea. I'm the opposite of you - doing well with the food, but when I start with the exercise plan (my October goal) I'll struggle. Together we make one heck of a fit woman!
