Goal for the week of September 13, 2010

First a review of last week's goal, which was writing down everything I ate. 
Uh-oh!  I FORGOT to do it!  Whoopsie!  I think I still did well, though (we'll find out at Wednesday Weigh-In.)  I do want to keep track of what I eat, at least for the first few months of The Mambo Project, so I'll give the food journal much better effort this week. 

This Week's Goal:  Pay special attention to protein portions.

A year or so ago I saw a great dietician named Catherine who told me that a piece of protein (such as beef, chicken, fish, etc) should be the size of my palm.  That's a good rule of thumb (or rule of palm, I suppose).

  1. Yup, I saw that too about the protein. What do you eat? whole grains? or are you on a special, fancy diet?
    I heard the saying that it's better to eat to live than live to eat. It's hard to make the shift though.

  2. Hi Leigh, Thanks for posting on my blog. I'm south of you, in Oakville, Ontario. Nice to see a fellow Canadian....someone who will spell things like colour, favour, flavour, neighbour,...... LOL. When the dietician told me about the palm sized protein rule, I just started by narrower but thicker steaks and burgers! I'll bet that wasn't what she had in mind though. I'm looking forward to following your posts and getting ideas from you. How the heck do you post the pics? I forget how to do it and I would like to post photos of some of my meals. Thanks so much.
